The Three Parts of Life

You never know when or where
You’ll be blessed with wisdom
Yesterday someone graced my life
With a
Delightful
Insightful idea
So elegant
Simple and profound
That it lingered all day
And into the evening

My friend Molly said
That life is made up
Of three parts
One part
She said is filled with
Stuff that just happens
That’s just plain bad luck
Nothing you can do about
Except deal with it!

She went on to say that
Life is also made up of
Stuff that happens
That’s just plain
Good luck
Nothing to do
Except treasure it!

And finally Molly said
Life is made up of stuff
That happens - that comes to us
That we’re
Responsible for
Through the choices
We’ve made

I thought about
Molly’s words all night
They resonated
Deep within
And then came
The hard part
Would I have
The courage to
Honestly
Place each event
Each experience
In the proper place
Bad luck
Luck
And
Choices
The three parts of life
